The house is located outside the village of San Macario just of the main road linking Viareggio to Lucca and the other main Tucan cities. It is 4 miles west of LUCCA, off the SS 439.
To the north lie the Apuan Alps, the Natural Park, the medieval town of Barga and the renowned spa town of Bagni di Lucca, - all within one hours drive.
To the west lie the beach towns of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi.
To the east is the beautiful walled city of Lucca, the centre of a region famous for its wine and olive oil.
Henry James says of Lucca in his diary…………”with its wide garden-land, its ancient appanage, teeming and blooming with everything that is good and pleasant for man………”
Florence is forty miles away by motorway, and Pisa airport, from which there are frequent and regular flights to London, is thirty miles away.
